Jean Baptiste Charbonneau (Pomp) grave - Jordan Valley, OR. At the end of their journey, Clark took Pomp to St. Louis. He became well educated and led a very interesting life. In 1866, he went to Montana in search of gold. On the way through the Jordan Valley in southeastern Oregon, he crossed the Owyhee River, contracted pneumonia, and died May 16, 1866.
